Public House is a welcoming, modern American gastropub combining traditional smokehouse flavors and creative vegan cuisine in a casually-chic atmosphere in downtown Ferndale. We feature separate vegan and traditional kitchens; a beautiful four-season garden patio and flower wall; inspired craft cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails; and a legendary weekend brunch service.

Public House opened in 2013 at 241 W. Nine Mile, as a throwback to the classic American heritage bar, complete with a gritty, rebel attitude and the intention of creating simple but delicious food. Known for its inventive gourmet sliders, craft cocktails and creative menu, Public House quickly transformed from a neighborhood stop to a downtown destination. Closed during the pandemic, Public House was purchased and reopened in 2021 by Ferndale-based Hometown Restaurant Group. Today, we continue to preserve the best elements of original Public House while opening new doors with a second kitchen dedicated to vegan cuisine; a fresh four-season garden room; and a commitment to nourishing all tastes and lifestyles.
